Crocs for breast cancer

In time for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Crocs is supporting the efforts of the world’s largest breast cancer organization, Susan G. Komen, through a new limited edition of its footwear.

The collection was launched Oct. 1 throughout the United States and its territories. The footwear features Komen’s trademark pink Running Ribbon.

“We are excited that Crocs has joined with us to make a significant impact in the fight to end breast cancer, a disease that claims more than 41,000 lives each year,” Christina Alford, Komen’s senior vice president of development, said in a press release. “We salute Crocs for its commitment and determination to help save lives.”

 

For each pair of Komen-licensed Classic Clogs sold from Oct. 1, 2018 through Nov. 30, 2019, Crocs will donate $3 to the Komen organization. Crocs will also donate 25 cents for each Jibbitz charm sold during that period, with a guaranteed minimum donation of $50,000.

The clogs will retail for $49.99; the Jibbitz charm, $1.99. They will be available at select stores and through the company’s website. Two additional clog styles will be introduced for spring/summer 2019.

Komen’s leadership in breast cancer research and providing support for those in need across the country has set the standard in providing hope and care for women and men who are impacted by breast cancer,” said Michelle Poole, Crocs’ senior vice president of global product and marketing. 

“Crocs is proud to be a partner in Komen’s inspiring mission and is dedicated to helping save lives from breast cancer through its brand values and actions.”

Susan G. Komen funds more breast cancer research than any other nonprofit organization, while supporting those living with the disease. Since its founding in 1982, Komen has funded more than $956 million in research, and provided around $2.1 billion to screening, education, treatment, and psychosocial support programs in more than 60 countries. It aims to cut the number of breast cancer deaths in the United States in half by 2026.

Most recently, Komen announced an additional investment of nearly $26 million to fund 62 new research projects that seek to solve some of the most difficult puzzles surrounding breast cancer. Announced Sept. 25, the grants will investigate critical research areas, drug resistance and metastasis, triple negative breast cancer, new treatments, and health disparities.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the National Breast Cancer Foundation is giving away guides about breast cancer health. The booklet includes information about healthy habits, risk assessment, signs and symptoms, and early detection. It also covers breast cancer basics such as specific stages and types.
